STRAVINSKY Pulcinella Suite
BARBER Violin Concerto
LOUISE FARRENC Symphony No. 3
Ronald Corp – conductor
Clare Howick – violin
This will be a very special concert for Trinity Orchestra, as it marks the return to our home of forty-one years, Trinity Church, Harrow. In addition, we will be welcoming back, for a guest appearance as conductor, one of our former Musical Directors, Ronald Corp, who is Musical Director of The London Chorus, New London Children’s Choir and Highgate Choral Society. He is also Artistic Director of New London Orchestra and New London Children’s Choir and a prolific composer.
The exciting programme opens with Pulcinella Suite, a reworking of music by the Italian Baroque composer, Pergolesi, which was orchestrated and arranged by Stravinsky, whose genius turns this lovely old music into something fresh and invigorating.
Prestigious violin soloist, Clare Howick, joins the orchestra to perform Barber’s beautiful Violin Concerto, one of the most frequently performed of all 20th-century concertos.
The concert finishes with the fine Symphony No. 3 by the mid-19th-century French composer Louise Farrenc, who has been unjustifiably overlooked but who is having something of a renaissance at present.
