We hope you can join us and the Imperial Male Voice Choir for an evening of wonderful classical music at Harrow Arts Centre.
The concert opens with the melodically appealing Overture in C by Felix Mendelssohn’s sister, Fanny, who some consider to be as good a composer as her brother. Because of her sex, however she was not encouraged to pursue a professional career, and is only now getting the recognition she deserves.
To sing the exciting Pilgrims’ Chorus from Wagner’s opera Tannhäuser the orchestra is delighted to welcome as guests the long-established Imperial Male Voice Choir, directed by talented and experienced singer, Deborah Miles-Johnson, who performs as soloist in the Alto Rhapsody by Brahms.
Deborah and the choir will also feature in excerpts from Schubert’s lyrical incidental music for Helmina von Chézy’s play Rosamunde, Princess of Cyprus.
Brahms’ inspiring and well-loved Symphony No. 2 will bring the concert to a rousing finish.
The evening will be conducted by Trinity Orchestra’s award-winning Music Director John Andrews, who will also offer an insight to the programme in a pre-concert talk at 7pm.
