Guest Leader: Christian Halstead

Soprano: Charmian Bedford
Mezzo-soprano: Victoria Simmonds
Tenor: Charne Rochford

Trinity Orchestra and friends return to Harrow Arts Centre for a complete concert performance of one of the most popular operas ever written, Bizet’s Carmen.

Conductor John Andrews once again brings together a stellar cast of celebrated vocal soloists, including Charmian Bedford, James Cleverton, Victoria Simmonds and Charne Rochford*.

We’re also delighted to welcome the Minerva Consort and Kids Choir Harrow, directed by Tim Smith, to join us on stage.

Based on Prosper Mérimée’s novella of 1845, the opera is set in Seville, and portrays the story of Don José in a narrative of lust and obsession, as he is seduced by the alluring Spanish gypsy, Carmen. It is full of wonderful music and well-known, colourful tunes, including the Habanera and Toreador Song.

*Please note that Charne Rochford replaces Alexander Robin Baker, previously advertised as tenor soloist in this concert.

Perform with us!

Audience members are invited to join in with the Habanera and Toreador Song from their seats. Rehearsal at 7pm in place of pre-concert talk.
