MUSSORGSKY Pictures at an Exhibition (orch. Ravel)
Trinity Orchestra
Conductor: Michael Murray
Trumpet Soloist: Katie Bannister
Leader: Arwen Newband
We are thrilled to welcome rising star trumpeter Katie Bannister as soloist in this evocative concert, which journeys from the sea to the gallery and paints vivid pictures in sound.
The evening opens with Britten’s atmospheric Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes, a masterpiece of orchestral storytelling, before Bannister shines in Haydn’s brilliant and much-loved Trumpet Concerto.
Finally, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition – in Ravel’s shimmering orchestration – brings the programme to a spectacular close, each movement bursting with character, colour and invention.
We’re delighted to welcome back our former Music Director Michael Murray to conduct this exciting concert.
Arrive early for the free pre-concert talk at 7pm to learn more about the music.
