HUMPERDINCK Hansel and Gretel

Join Harrow’s own Trinity Orchestra with local singers and dancers for a complete concert performance of the magical and well-known opera Hansel and Gretel.

Composer Engelbert Humperdinck called it a fairy-tale opera, with the witty subject matter appealing to all ages: a life-sized gingerbread house, a wicked witch and an enchanted forest. His score wonderfully depicts the famous Brothers Grimm story with beautiful melodies, catchy folk tunes and sumptuous orchestration.

This performance, sung in English, will be conducted by the orchestra’s Music Director John Andrews – who has worked with English Touring Opera, Garsington Opera and Opera Holland Park among others.

A host of celebrated professional singers, including local mezzo soprano Victoria Simmonds, will star as soloists. The orchestra is thrilled that chorus singers and young dancers from the Harrow area will be joining them on stage to help bring this concert performance to life.

Described as “tremendously accomplished musicians” by the famous cellist Paul Watkins, the experienced players of Trinity Orchestra have been delighting Harrow audiences for nearly four decades. Do join them at Harrow Arts Centre for what promises to be a very special evening.

Ticket holders can find out more about the music in a free pre-concert talk with conductor John Andrews at 6.30pm.
