PARRY Symphonic Variations in E minor
BRUCH Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor
RACHMANINOV Symphony No. 2 in E minor
Michael Murray – conductor
Alexandre Dubach – violin
Renowned Swiss violinist Alexandre Dubach makes his UK debut with Trinity Orchestra in the first concert of their 2013/14 season.
Named in Jaoachim Hartnack’s book Great Violinists of our Time, Dubach is famed for his virtuosity, which will be perfectly showcased in Max Bruch’s gloriously romantic violin concerto. The concerto’s lyrical second movement contains one of the most famous violin melodies of all time, and to hear it performed by this internationally-acclaimed recording artist promises to be a treat indeed.
Framing Bruch’s much-loved work will be the Symphonic Variations by British composer Sir Hubert Parry – whose wonderful music has recently been championed by The Prince of Wales – and Sergei Rachmaninov’s second symphony, one of the greatest Russian masterworks of all time.
Join conductor Michael Murray for a free pre-concert talk at 7pm, through which you can learn more about the evening’s music.
